Associations at Minneapolis Winter Expo

This past weekend members of the Banadad Trail Associations manned a booth at Midwest Mountaineering’s Winter Expo. The Association’s new brochure was handed out; questions about the trail were answered. and names were taken of people interested in learning more about the association and the Banadad.  According to Linda Bosma, the Association’s V.P.,  “the Expo crowd was great–lots of good questions and interest!  And a wonderful, wonderful job to all who helped make it successful.”

Those who volunteered their time  in the booth were Peter Spink, Wayne and Karen Monsen, Doug and Therese White, Tom Rice, Chris Bosma, Linda Matter, Karla Miller and the two Minnehaha Academy Ski Team members .  Also thanks to Anne Rykken who designed the Association’s brochure and provide the poster displayed at the booth.

Members of the Association also talked about the Banadad and the Association during Ted Young yurt to yurt skiing presentations held at the Humphrey Institute.

Association to be at Winter Expo

The Banadad Trail Association will exhib at this year’s Midwest Mountaineer’s Winter Expo.  The event will be held November 20-23 at Midwest Mountaineer’s, 309 Cedar Ave So,  Minneapolis.

Banadad Bridge Repaired

and one half miles into the Banadad Bridge, Jim Morrison and Ted Young made the necessary repair on the bridge to insure it was serviceable for the coming ski season. The pair found the trail to the bridge in good condition with no new downfalls.

The weather was overcast and mild for the trip in and out however upon the pairs return it started to rain.

Good Time at Association’s Annual Meeting

The Banadad Trail Association Annual meeting was held at Poplar Creek Guesthouse B&B on October 24. Amount the actions take was the appointment of Chris Matter from Hudson Wisconsin to serve on the Board of Directors. Chris has been skiing the entire Banadad yurt to yurt for to many years to keep track. The association also decided to sell memberships at Midwest Mountaineering Winter Expo November 20-22  in Minneapolis.  For detail information on the meeting go to the Association’s minutes posted on the “about

A social hour and great Potluck dinner was enjoyed by all following the meeting.

Prior to the meeting the North Star Ski Tour Club spent several days working on the Banadad.  On Saturday the club was joihed by several member of the Assocaition clearing  the Lace Lake trail.

The Banadad Trail Association’s Annual Meeting and Potluck is scheduled for 5:00 PM, Saturday October 24 at the Poplar Creek Guesthouse B&B, 11 Poplar Creek Dr. on the Gunflint Trail. The meeting will be followed by a social get-together and potluck dinner. Anyone interested in and/or who skis this unique Boundary Waters trail is invited. Bring dish to pass.

Prior to the meeting the North Stars Ski Touring Club will spend the day clearing the Banadad. The public is invited to join-in. Meet at the Poplar Creek Guesthouse at 9:00 AM if you would like to help. Wear work clothes including water proof boots and bring your lunch. Tools will be provided.
