Holiday Greeting – The Trail is Open

A big holiday present to those waiting to ski the Banadad. On December 21 we finally removed the last of the brush and down trees blocking the Banadad Ski Trail. While we still have a bit more clean-up of some of the ice/snow cover brush over hanging the trail, at least you can get through.  The Lace Lake, Tall Pines, Knopp and 4 kilometers of the east end of the Banadad Trails are tracked.  Depending on snow condition the remainder of the Banadad  should be traced by mid next week.

More Snow- Slow Going on the Trail

Yesterday there was another 5 inches of snow. This give us over 20 inches on the ground. While not record setting 20 inches this  time of year, early in the winter, is a good start.

The snow along with an October wind storm followed by a rain/snow mixture has made for slow going in opening the Banadad. The trail staff is cutting lots of brush that is hanging into trail be cut and more then your normal number of down trees blocking the trail. Progress is slow. Yesterday only a mile and a quarter of the trails was cleared. To date 7.5 miles on the Banadad has been cleared and packed.

However, the Lace Lake and Tall Pines Trails are open, packed and will likely be tracked by this weekend.
