The 650-member North Star Ski Touring Club is the largest ski touring club in lower 48. Formed in 1967, the club sponsors a year-round schedule of activities including day, weekend, and week-long trips to many locations in North America and Europe.
The North Star's Karen Monsen in 2008 proposed creating a non-profit Association to take over management of the Banadad Ski Trail. Then with the help of other North Starers and Boundary Country Trekking staff the Banadad Trail Association was organized.

We started maintaining the Banadad along with other lodges on the Gunflint Trail in 1984. Later we took over the total responsibility for the trail. In 2009 with the aid of member of the North Star Ski Touring club we help to form the Banadad Trail Association.
